The predecessor of DOSAAF was the Society for Assistance to Defense, Aviation and Chemical Construction (OSOAVIAHIM), formed in 1927. The decision to create it was made on January 23, 1927 at a joint meeting of delegates of the All-Union Congress of AVIAHIM and participants of the plenum of the Defense Assistance Society.
On January 22, 1947, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR awarded the society the Order of the Red Banner for successful work in strengthening the country's defense and in connection with the 20th anniversary of the organization.[1]
In 1948, on the basis of OSOAVIAKHIM, 3 independent societies were formed - DOSARM, DOSAV and DOSFLOT.
On August 20, 1951, these societies were united into the Voluntary Society for Assistance to the Army, Aviation and Navy of the USSR (DOSAAF USSR) [2], which existed as a mass defense-patriotic organization, the purpose of which was to help strengthen the country’s defense capability and prepare workers for the defense of the socialist Fatherland [3].
In January 1977, for his great contribution to strengthening the country's defense capability and in connection with the 50th anniversary of the USSR DOSAAF, he was awarded the Order of Lenin. Delivery takes 14-35 days. To Australia 60 days.
